Introduction to the New Chevrolet Captiva PHEV

Chevrolet, an American automobile brand, has unveiled a new variant of its Captiva SUV in Mexico. This model is the first hybrid plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV) offered by Chevrolet in Mexico, developed based on the Baojun 530, a product of its partnership with Chinese group SAIC. This addition joins other models like Aveo, Groove, and Onix, which also have Asian origins.

Key Features and Specifications

The new Captiva PHEV will be available in two versions: LT and Premier, sharing the same powertrain. The differences between these versions will mainly lie in their equipment.

  • Powertrain: Under the hood, it features a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine assisted by an electric motor with a power output of 201 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque.
  • Transmission: Front-wheel drive

Charging and Battery Capacity

The battery can be recharged at home, in all GM EV dealerships in Mexico, and through the Vemo and Evergo charging network with over 1,100 points across the country. The battery can also accept fast charging up to 23 kW, allowing it to go from 20% to 100% in just 38 minutes.

Infotainment and Safety Features

The Captiva PHEV comes with an 8.8″ multicolor cluster display, and in the Premier version, the infotainment system features a 15.6″ screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

In terms of safety, it offers 6 airbags, adaptive cruise control, forward collision alert, active front and side traffic monitoring, lane departure warning, pedestrian front alert, among other features. Additionally, Captiva PHEV customers will have access to OnStar emergency services through the Guardián mobile app, offering 6 months free and shareable with up to 7 users.
