GAC’s Two-Year Mexican Presence: From SUV Dominance to Electrification

Two years after entering the Mexican market, GAC Group, along with its sub-brands GAC, AION, and HYPTEC, has solidified its position in the popular SUV segment. The company is now setting trends in electrification, ranging from urban mobility to extreme luxury.

In a strategic move, GAC Mexico has expanded its offerings from just two models to a robust range of ten vehicles and 35 dealerships.

Making the Emzoom More Accessible

The Emzoom, GAC’s best-selling model in Mexico, is now reinforcing its position with the introduction of two new entry-level versions: GB and GL. This smart move not only broadens the potential customer base but also makes the model more accessible to a wider audience, maintaining its bold design and advanced technology.

  • GB Version: Priced at $398,900 pesos, this version features an exclusive Star Diamond grille, LED Laser-eye headlights, and Light Dart taillights. The interior boasts a 14.6-inch central display and a driver-oriented console with leather-like materials.
  • GL Version: Priced at $449,900 pesos, this version also includes the exclusive Star Diamond grille, LED Laser-eye headlights, and Light Dart taillights. The interior retains the imposing 14.6-inch central display and a driver-focused design with leather-like materials.
  • GT and GT Racer Versions: For top-tier offerings, GAC has introduced new exclusive colors (red and black) and cutting-edge technology. These versions come with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and automatic headlights.

All versions maintain the Emzoom’s signature agile handling, thanks to its 1.5-liter turbo engine paired with a 7-speed WDCT transmission, providing an optimal balance of responsiveness and smoothness on both city streets and highways.

AION UT: The Electric Pillar for Smart Mobility

In the realm of mass electrification, AION, GAC’s electric vehicle division, has introduced the AION UT—a city car tailored for modern urban mobility. This is the third electric model from AION in Mexico, joining the AION ES sedan and AION Y SUV.

  • Spacious Interior: Despite being classified as a city car, the AION UT boasts an impressive interior space for five passengers, thanks to its 2,750 mm wheelbase and 4.27-meter total length.
  • Design Focus: Developed in Milan, the AION UT prioritizes practicality by eliminating the central tunnel for enhanced comfort. It features a 14.6-inch touchscreen and digital cluster.
  • Safety Features: The AION UT uses a high-strength steel structure and a 44 kWh LFP battery designed to withstand punctures. The shared powertrain delivers 134 hp and nearly 420 km of range based on the NEDC cycle across Standard ($419,900 pesos) and Elite ($459,900 pesos) versions.
  • Elite Version Additions: The Elite version includes features like an air purifier, 360° camera, power seats, and rain sensors.

The AION UT is a contender for the 2026 World Car Awards, reinforcing AION’s role as a strategic player in the global electric vehicle ecosystem.

HYPTEC HT: Exclusive Luxury Electric Experience

At the high end of the market, GAC introduces HYPTEC with its model HT, reserved for a select clientele. Priced at $990,900 pesos, the HYPTEC HT is more than just a vehicle; it’s a statement of prestige.

  • Distinctive Design: The HYPTEC HT immediately stands out with its striking bird-wing doors. The cabin is a luxurious sanctuary, featuring Nappa leather, massage seats with heating and ventilation, and the ability to recline up to 180°. The immersive audio experience is provided by a Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 system with 22 speakers.
  • Performance: Powered by an 180 kW (241 hp) electric motor, the HYPTEC HT offers a 445 km range under the stringent WLTP standard, fueled by a 72.7 kWh battery compatible with DC CCS2 fast charging.
  • Advanced Features: The HYPTEC HT features independent double-wishbone and multi-link five-arm suspension for a smooth ride, complemented by advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a digital ecosystem with a 14.6-inch touchscreen and wireless connectivity.

With limited unit sales in Mexico, the HYPTEC HT underscores its exclusive and high-distinction character.

GAC’s Expansion Strategy: Comprehensive Market Coverage

GAC’s expansion strategy will be completed in Q1 2026 with the arrival of the GS7 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid SUV, ensuring that the brand covers almost all market niches with the latest mobility technology.
