Introduction and Market Positioning
Unveiled at the recent New York Auto Show, the shorter-bodied version of the Kia K4 has been introduced in Mexico. The offering for our market comprises two versions, aiming to stand out in a segment with limited options. The Kia K4 Hatchback’s success hinges on its equipment, pricing, and mechanics as the primary differentiators.
Standout Features
The K4 Hatchback is built on the same platform as its sedan sibling, sharing the wheelbase (2,720 mm). However, the third volume has been removed to appeal more to a younger audience. This results in a 27 cm shorter body, making it more manageable in tight spaces and easier to park.
The GT-Line trim is configured for this variant, with specific properties for both the naturally aspirated Atkinson cycle engine and the turbocharged version. Both feature LED headlights, with the turbo offering a cubic configuration. Standard features include items like a rear spoiler with LED lights, panoramic sunroof, and 18-inch aluminum wheels.
No Compromises
Inside, attention is drawn to the nearly 30” display divided into a 12.3” digital cluster, a 12.3” central infotainment touchscreen, and a 5” climate control display.
The K4 Hatchback boasts generous habitability in both rows, with no issues of legroom in the second row. The seats offer high comfort levels, though the front seats stand out for their striking design, especially the headrest.
Technology and Safety
The Kia K4 Hatchback, produced in Mexico’s Pesquería plant and exported to over 40 markets, offers the highest level of safety available. It has received a 5-star safety rating from the Latin NCAP and comes equipped with six airbags, a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, and stability control.
Additionally, it features an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite with features like Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance with Turn Assistance, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, and more.
The turbocharged version offers extra safety features such as a 360° Monitor, Rear Collision Avoidance Assist, side movement sensors, and a Blind-Spot Monitoring alert in the cluster.
