eTorque Technology Enhancements
The eTorque system, previously featured in Pentastar V6 engines, replaces the traditional alternator with a motor-driven generator powered by a 48-volt battery. This setup allows for up to 130 lb-ft of torque from the very first touch of the accelerator, improving traction. The benefits extend beyond engine performance, optimizing gear shifts, cylinder deactivation, and smoother acceleration and braking transitions. The towing capacity reaches 6,690 kilograms, and the payload capacity is 800 kilograms.

This aligns with Ram’s product strategy for the 1500 vehicle, allowing buyers to select between the Hemi V8’s power and distinct feel or the efficiency and increased capacity of the Hurricane 6-cylinder inline engine, which is produced in Coahuila, Mexico. The Hurricane engine was recognized by Wards in 2024 as one of the top 10 engines and propulsion systems.
