Calendar for Verification in the Second Semester of 2025
Both in Mexico City (CDMX) and the State of Mexico, the schedule for visiting verification centers to receive the corresponding hologram applies similarly:
- Yellow sticker, ending 5 or 6: July 1 to August 31, 2025
- Pink sticker, ending 7 or 8: August 1 to September 30, 2025
- Red sticker, ending 3 or 4: September 1 to October 31, 2025
- Green sticker, ending 1 or 2: October 1 to November 30, 2025
- Blue sticker, ending 9 or 0: November 1 to December 31, 2025
Is Vehicle Verification Mandatory?
Yes, it is for all internal combustion vehicles registered in Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
Which Vehicles are Exempt from Verification?
Electric vehicles, hybrid categories I and II, old registration, demonstration and/or transport vehicles, as well as agricultural tractors, industrial machinery, and motorcycles.
What Will Be the Cost of Verification in the Second Semester of 2025?
In Mexico City
- The verification service costs $738.00 MXN (IVA included). Certificates “00”, “0”, “1” or “2” remain valid according to the established norm.
- Drivers cannot verify if a vehicle has outstanding property taxes, traffic fines, environmental sanctions, or photocivil penalties.
- For out-of-time verification, the fine is $2,263.00 MXN.
If a rejection is obtained within the last seven days of the assigned period, an additional 15 natural days can be granted for verification without a fine, provided that the same center is visited.
In the State of Mexico
Unlike Mexico City, the State of Mexico’s General Directorate for Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Contamination charges different prices according to the corresponding hologram:
- Holograms 1 and 2 cost 453 MXN
- Hologram 0 costs 566 MXN
- Hologram 00 has a price of 1,131 MXN.
- Exempt vehicles can perform the procedure for free.
For out-of-time verification, the penalty is 3,394 MXN, and the car cannot circulate in the entity. However, the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainable Development of the State of Mexico announced a special waiver scheme for automobile drivers who have not verified previously.
This program will only be in effect from July to December 2025 due to the implementation of the New Hoy No Circula in the State of Mexico.
New Hoy No Circula in the State of Mexico
The current Hoy No Circula program applies in Mexico City’s 16 boroughs and 18 conurbated municipalities in the State of Mexico. However, starting July 2025, the new Hoy No Circula in the State of Mexico takes effect, extending it to 39 municipalities in the State of Mexico.
