Key Changes in Ericsson’s Business Structure

Ericsson has consolidated its operations in North America (United States and Canada) and Latin America into a single market area called “The Americas.” This strategic move aims to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen Ericsson’s commitment to global digitalization.

Leadership and Relevant Experience

Yossi Cohen, appointed as President and CEO of Ericsson Americas, leads this new market area. With over a decade of experience at Ericsson, Cohen has been instrumental in driving innovation and growth within the telecommunications industry.

Accelerating 5G Adoption and Digital Transformation

Under Cohen’s leadership, Ericsson Americas is poised to accelerate 5G adoption and digital transformation across the region. Latin American markets will also have the opportunity to exchange experiences with the United States and Canada.

According to the Ericsson Mobility Report, the US and Canada are among the top countries with strong 5G adoption, expected to have 71% of their mobile subscribers connected to 5G by the end of 2024.

New Leadership Appointments

In alignment with this business reorganization, Ericsson has named Sean Cryan as the new President for the North Latin America and Caribbean region. Cryan brings extensive experience in technology and telecommunications.

  • Career Background: Cryan began his career at Vodafone and joined Ericsson in 2007. He has since held various leadership roles, including Head of Cloud Software and Services for the Americas, Key Account Manager within T-Mobile’s customer unit, Country Manager for Ericsson Nigeria, and leading mobile financial services within Ericsson’s global customer unit for the Middle East and Africa.

Cryan’s Vision for the Region

“Leading a region with such immense potential as North Latin America and the Caribbean is truly exciting. This region has the potential to leverage digitalization for sustainable economic development,” said Cryan.

“North Latin America and the Caribbean is a key market encompassing over 39 territories, seven different languages, and two factories. Now that the region is part of The Americas, we will continue to promote greater connectivity with innovative solutions like Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), bridging digital divides and enhancing the region’s competitiveness and innovation.”

In his new role, Cryan will lead Ericsson’s efforts to promote 5G network adoption in Latin America, focusing on fostering innovation, strengthening competitiveness, and increasing productivity in the region.
