Background on Indian Motorcycle and its Relevance

Indian Motorcycle, an American brand with a rich history dating back to 1901, has been making significant strides in the Mexican motorcycle market. Axel Vázquez, the Sales Director for Indian Motorcycle in Mexico and Latin America, recently announced that the company has sold 800 premium motorcycles in the first half of 2025, surpassing the 700 units sold in all of 2024.

Mexico as a Prime Market for Indian Motorcycle

Mexico has emerged as the primary market for Indian Motorcycle in Latin America, with sales growing by 90% during the first half of 2025. This impressive growth has set new record sales figures for the company.

Indian Motorcycle’s Success Factors

Vázquez attributes the company’s success to strategic decisions that have bolstered its presence and appeal among Mexican consumers. Among these initiatives is the launch of the Scout Sixty Bobber, an entry-level model priced at 194,900 pesos, which has made the premium range more accessible to a wider audience.

“With its robust aesthetic and classic DNA, the Scout Sixty Bobber has attracted a young, urban demographic seeking style and power without compromising their budget,” explains Vázquez.

Furthermore, Indian Motorcycle has implemented flexible financing options, offering tailored payment plans from 12 to 36 months with no interest. This approach aims to facilitate motorcycle ownership, and the company has also added value through driving experience courses.

Market Position and Future Expansion Plans

Indian Motorcycle’s market share in Mexico has grown to nearly 40%, positioning it as the leading brand ahead of its primary competitor, Harley Davidson. Vázquez is optimistic about future growth, stating, “We’re aiming even higher. With our premium segment leadership, we expect to reach around 60% market share compared to our neighbors.”

Mexico is Indian Motorcycle’s most crucial market in the Americas, followed by Colombia, Chile, and Argentina.

Recent Developments and Future Goals

To commemorate a decade of presence in Mexico, Indian Motorcycle unveiled four new models tailored for the Mexican market during a special event. These include the relaunched Slingshot, a three-wheeled sports design; the Sport Chief RT; Challenger Elite; and PowerPlus 112 (touring bagger).

Over the past decade, Indian Motorcycle has established a strong foothold in the Mexican market with 12 dealerships. The company plans to expand further, aiming for 19 distributors nationwide to solidify its position and cater to the unique preferences of Mexican motorcyclists.
