Introduction to Instituto IBERO and its Global Reach

The Instituto IBERO, a part of the extensive network of Jesuit schools present in over 60 countries and comprising 800 institutions, officially launched on June 24th in the Andrea Pozzo Gallery at the Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México. This educational project aims to integrate Secondary and Preparatory IBERO, providing an all-encompassing education with international standards to shape young individuals capable of transforming the world.

The Significance of Integral Formation in Challenging Times

Dr. Luis Arriaga Valenzuela, S. J., Rector of IBERO CDMX, emphasized the importance of integral formation in today’s complex times. He expressed gratitude to Mtra. Ligia Adriana Rodríguez Méndez, Director General of Instituto IBERO, and the entire team for their leadership and vision.

Dr. Arriaga highlighted that the internationalization of Instituto IBERO will enable students to develop a global perspective, engage with diversity, and contribute to building a more pluralistic world. “In such complex times, integral formation is an act of affirmation. It’s telling students: ‘Here, we see you, walk with you, and believe in what you can become,'” he stated.

Bachillerato Internacional: A Leap Towards Excellence

As part of this transformation, Prepa IBERO will join the Bachillerato Internacional (IB) starting the upcoming academic cycle, incorporating Intermediate Year Programs and the Diploma Program, available in both conventional and bilingual modalities. This transition will make Instituto IBERO an IB World School, ensuring its students receive globally recognized education and a humanist vision beyond Mexico’s borders.

The Bachillerato Internacional will bolster integral formation, a cornerstone of the Jesuit tradition that seeks academic excellence and the emotional, physical, spiritual, ethical, and creative development of students.

Cultivating the Best for the World

Mtra. Ligia Adriana Rodríguez Méndez underscored that Instituto IBERO aims not only to form the best in the world but also for the world. This student-centered pedagogical model seeks to make students the protagonists of their learning, with constant teacher guidance. The goal is for students to find their place in the world and become their best selves within six years, full and serving others.

Though young in its unified proposal, Instituto IBERO draws on over 500 years of Jesuit educational experience and 82 years of the Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México’s history.

Its model is based on close accompaniment and comprehensive development (academic, physical, emotional, social, spiritual), with Ignatian pedagogy as its foundation for learning to think, feel, and act freely and responsibly. It encourages critical thinking, creativity, collaborative work, and global citizenship, aiming to build educational collaboration networks and links with various international institutions.
