Background and Relevance of Derrick Halvorsen
Mercedes-Benz has named Derrick Halvorsen as the new CEO of Mercedes-Benz Mexico, effective January 1, 2026. This appointment aims to strengthen the company’s leadership in Latin America and focus on a new growth phase in the era of mobility.
Halvorsen currently holds the position of General Manager at Mercedes-Benz Mobility Mexico but assumed the CEO role for Mercedes-Benz Mexico at the beginning of this year.
Mercedes-Benz highlighted that Halvorsen’s extensive business knowledge, multicultural experience, and regional leadership background position him well to drive a new development phase for Mercedes-Benz Mexico.
Career Background
Halvorsen began his career in 1999 at DaimlerChrysler Financial Services Canada and has held leadership positions in Canada, United States, and Mexico. He has managed divisions of automobiles, vans, and trucks within Financial Services. Since 2021, he has been responsible for establishing and leading the new Mercedes-Benz Mobility Mexico organization as Managing Director and CEO.

Mercedes-Benz Mexico announced a strategic transition within its executive team, with Stefan Albrecht stepping down as CEO of Mercedes-Benz Mexico on April 30 to facilitate the transition.
After nearly 30 years of international career within the Group, Stefan Albrecht, who is also responsible for Marketing & Sales MBC Latin America, decided to retire. This decision reflects a personal and professional stage change.
During the transition period, Albrecht will continue providing strategic support in an advisory role that began on January 1, according to Mercedes Benz.
“Thank you, Stefan, for your time at this company. Your guidance has been crucial, and I particularly appreciate your support in ensuring a smooth transition. I am excited to lead our talented team into the next chapter,” said Derrick Halvorsen.
