A Nearly 20-Year-Old Museum Reinvents Itself
Almost 20 years after its founding, the Interactive Economy Museum (MIDE) temporarily closed its doors in June to undergo a comprehensive transformation and reinvent itself to bring financial education to more diverse audiences. After five months of remodeling, the MIDE announced its reopening on November 8, marking a new chapter in its history.
Free Admission from November 8 to 16
As a special treat for visitors, the museum is offering free admission from November 8 to 16, allowing people to rediscover the newly designed exhibition halls, participate in interactive experiences, and enjoy a unique learning moment.
A Museum Evolving with the Times
This transformation of the MIDE was made possible by the commitment and trust of various partners and sponsors who share the vision of making economics a more relatable and everyday topic for the population.
Since its founding in July 2006, the MIDE has become the world’s first interactive museum dedicated to economics, bringing economic and financial concepts to children, youth, and adults in a fun way.
Key Figures in the MIDE’s Transformation
During the opening conference, Silvia Singer, General Director of MIDE, shared that the museum’s model has inspired the creation of over 40 similar museums worldwide: “Mexico should feel proud. What started here has served as inspiration and guidance for projects around the globe.”
A Transformation Focused on Accessibility and Relevance
With a more approachable, accessible, and participatory focus, the museum underwent a 100% renovation while maintaining its core themes: economy, finances, growth, well-being, and sustainability.
