Partnership to Promote Water Care and Ecosystem Protection

Ana María Ballarino, the Director of Corporate Communication at Procter & Gamble (P&G) Mexico, explained that they are implementing initiatives to optimize water usage in their Mexican plants, seeking alliances with clients and consumers.

P&G and Soriana Unite for Water Conservation Efforts

Tu Súper con Causa, an annual initiative by P&G and Soriana, has entered its 2025 edition, focusing on water conservation and ecosystem protection in Mexico.

Claudia Aguado, Director of Soriana Foundation, detailed four projects aimed at mitigating water scarcity and preserving biodiversity across Chiapas, Yucatán, Veracruz, and Puebla states.

  1. Rainwater Harvesting Systems: Installation of 160 rainwater harvesting systems in four states to help families collect and utilize rainwater for daily use.
  2. Water Filtration Project: Implementation of 15 water filtration units in Chiapas to ensure clean drinking water access, addressing contaminated water as the sixth leading cause of infant mortality in the region.
  3. Sumidero Canyon Conservation: Placement of 10 artificial water sources, three larger ponds, and 10 camera traps to monitor wildlife affected by water scarcity in Sumidero Canyon, Chiapas.
  4. Arroyo Moreno Clean-up and Education: Execution of cleanup, conservation, volunteer, and environmental education activities to protect the mangrove in Arroyo Moreno, Boca del Río, Veracruz.

Emphasis on Environmental Stewardship

Aguado highlighted that Tu Súper con Causa, now in its fourth edition, focuses on environmental care, specifically water-related issues.

“We see a high need to assist the planet through various perspectives. Water issues are becoming increasingly relevant, and this is where all actors, including large corporations like P&G, can collaborate to enable customers to contribute (through cause-driven purchases),” she explained.

P&G’s Water Optimization Initiatives

Ballarino elaborated on P&G’s efforts to optimize water usage in their Mexican facilities through alliances, projects with organizations, and innovation.

“We will restore the water we use through various partnerships, projects with different organizations, and innovation,” she emphasized.

Although specific investments have not been quantified, Ballarino assured that P&G will soon share concrete data on the impact of these projects, as they are being globally evaluated.

P&G has identified 18 critical global regions facing high water stress levels, implementing projects through their global ‘Water Positive Future’ program.

“Mexico is among the beneficiaries, as it’s included in these initiatives. Our country-specific projects involve innovation, technology, and alliances with significant impacts to meet our set objectives,” she concluded.
