Background on the Profeco and Nissan Collaboration

The Mexican consumer protection agency, Profeco (Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor), has teamed up with Nissan to launch an indefinite vehicle inspection campaign for nearly 22,000 Nissan Magnite 2025 models. This initiative aims to address potential safety concerns related to the vehicle’s braking system and lighting functions.

Key Issues Identified

High Beam Light Defect in Magnite Advance Models

Approximately 6,800 Magnite Advance models have been found to have a defect in the high beam light system. This issue stems from an overcurrent in the headlight connector, which can lead to overheating, melting of the connector, and eventual failure of the lighting system.

Nissan will reprogram the IPDM module and replace both headlight connectors at no cost to vehicle owners.

ABS Brake System Pipe Issue in Magnite Models

Over 15,000 Magnite models from the same year and model have been identified with a potential problem in the ABS brake system pipe. Due to insufficient clearance, this pipe may come into contact with the turbocharger thermal shield, causing wear, perforations, and leaks of brake fluid.

This reduction in braking efficiency increases the risk of accidents. The inspection will include checking and adjusting the clearance between parts, with no cost to consumers.

Campaign Details and Owner Notification

Although only three reports related to these issues had been registered by July 30, Profeco emphasized the importance of addressing this campaign. The inspection initiative began in August and will remain ongoing.

Nissan will contact vehicle owners through various channels, including phone calls, emails, text messages, and postal notifications.

  • Owners can verify if their vehicle is affected by visiting Nissan’s official website: https://www.nissan.com.mx/duenos-nissan/respaldo-nissan/llamados-a-revision.html
  • Alternatively, owners can consult with any authorized Nissan dealership.
  • Nissan’s customer support can be reached at 800 9 NISSAN (647726), option 6, or via email at [email protected].

Profeco has committed to monitoring this campaign’s progress and reminded the public of their access to the Consumer Helpline (55 5568 8722 and 800 468 8722) as well as their official social media channels for any queries or complaints related to this matter.
