Partnership Between Soriana and FAZT

Soriana, a chain of self-service stores, and FAZT, an electric vehicle charging infrastructure company, have inaugurated two new ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles in Nuevo León.

Gerardo Díaz Canales, Director of Real Estate Development at Soriana Organization, stated, “We continue to expand our infrastructure to offer our customers alternatives that benefit both their lifestyle and the environment.”

Locations of New Charging Stations

The new charging stations are situated in the Soriana Híper Lincoln and Soriana Híper Lindavista stores in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

Collaborative Effort Towards a Sustainable Future

The partnership between the retailer and FAZT, announced in December 2024, aims to establish over 1,000 electric vehicle charging stations across Mexico by 2030 in the parking lots of Soriana stores.

Since the announcement, they have installed nine charging stations in Monterrey, Nuevo León; Morelos; Valle de Bravo, Estado de México; and Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila.

However, the installed infrastructure so far falls short of their planned 57 stations for this year.

Impressive Usage and Environmental Impact

According to Soriana, these charging stations have recorded over 24,000 charging sessions and have served more than 1,400 users.

Furthermore, they have prevented the emission of 68,200 kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO₂), equivalent to the absorption capacity of over 3,400 mature trees in a year.

Soriana’s Commitment to Electromobility

In a press release, Soriana emphasized that this new business line addresses the need for electric vehicle and hybrid charging stations in Mexico.

Citing data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Soriana noted that between January and August of this year, 393,406 light vehicles were sold, with 19,852 being electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles.

“These figures demonstrate that electromobility is gaining traction, and expanding the charging network is crucial to sustain its growth,” Soriana highlighted.
