Project Details and Key Players
Transition Industries, a Houston-based US company, has signed a contract to develop the Pacífico Mexinol project in Ahome, Sinaloa, Mexico. This project is set to become the world’s largest ultra-low carbon chemical production center when it begins operations in 2029.
Project Capacity and Output
Upon completion, Pacífico Mexinol will produce approximately 350,000 metric tons of green methanol (industrial fuel derived from renewable electricity) and 1.8 million metric tons of blue methanol annually, using captured carbon and natural gas. The project’s scale underscores Transition Industries’ commitment to sustainable development and reducing carbon footprints in the chemical industry.
Contract Parties and Agreements
The contract includes Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services with a consortium comprising Samsung E&A Co., Ltd. (Samsung E&A), Grupo Samsung E&A México, S.A. de C.V., and Techint Ingeniería y Construcción. Additionally, NextChem, the technology division of MAIRE group, signed an Engineering Basic Design and Critical Equipment Supply Agreement with Samsung E&A for the provision of its patented NX AdWinMethanol®Zero technology.
