Introduction of Two International Flights from Mexico City’s AIFA Airport

Viva Aerobus, a low-cost Mexican airline, has announced two new international routes from the Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles (AIFA) to Austin, Texas, and New York. The first route will commence on November 20 with three weekly frequencies, while the second route is temporary and will run from December 12 to January 11, 2026. The service will resume in June 2026 for the FIFA World Cup.

Existing Routes and Expansion

These new routes add to the seven international flights announced in April, connecting AIFA with Los Angeles, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Miami, and Orlando. Currently, Aeromexico is the only airline flying from AIFA to the US, serving Houston and McAllen.

General Isidoro Pastor, AIFA’s director, emphasized the airline’s commitment to enhancing international connectivity and tourism opportunities for Mexicans. He highlighted the role of Viva, their staff, strategic location, and top-tier infrastructure in establishing AIFA as a premier flight hub in Mexico City’s metropolitan area.

This year, Viva also announced two new domestic routes: Veracruz and Saltillo, set to begin operations in November. With the addition of Austin and New York, Viva will operate a total of 42 routes from AIFA by the end of 2025, comprising 11 international and 31 national flights, compared to 29 routes at the end of the previous year.
