Introduction to Walmart’s New Medical Initiative
Walmart de México y Centroamérica has inaugurated its first Medical Services Center in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, capable of treating more than 200 patients each day. This center is noteworthy as it’s the first of its kind located in the State of Mexico.
Location and Facilities
The new facility is situated within the Walmart Ciudad Jardín store and includes four general medicine consultation rooms, specialist doctors, a dental clinic, and two stations for laboratory tests and vital signs monitoring.
Investment and Expansion
Although the exact investment amount remains undisclosed, Walmart mentioned in a press release that the center spans over 188 square meters and is equipped with technology to conduct more than 1,000 clinical studies.

Beatriz Núñez, Senior Vice President of Growth for Walmart de México y Centroamérica, stated: “We understand that numerous families face barriers when accessing medical services. Growth and Impact
Since the opening of the first center in Walmart Plaza Oriente in 2023, Walmart’s network has served over 800,000 patients and opened four units. The new location in Ciudad Jardín signifies another step for the retail chain in expanding medical services, focusing on addressing basic health needs at strategic points.
Comprehensive Health Offerings
Beyond Medical Services Centers, Walmart boasts over 1,570 pharmacies and 580 consultation rooms. The Walmart Health Program is available in more than 3,000 stores and clubs nationwide. This program offers benefits such as free consultations with general practitioners, 24/7 medical assistance, emergency ambulance services, veterinary care, and discounts on consultations with specialists.
Operating Hours and Reach
- The Ciudad Jardín Medical Center operates from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Saturdays, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM; and Sundays, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
- In Mexico, more than five million individuals shop daily at Walmart’s Bodega Aurrera, Sam’s Club, Walmart Express, and Walmart Supercenter stores.
- Walmart operates 4,099 stores and clubs, along with 32 distribution centers across the region, employing over 235,000 people.
- By the end of Q1 2025, Walmart de México y Centroamérica reported a 6.5% increase in consolidated revenues, with sales amounting to 239,161 million pesos.
