In today’s digital age, starting a business no longer requires a physical storefront. The reach of the internet offers Mexicans the opportunity to sell their products online, leading to 80% of these digital entrepreneurs believing their lives have improved since embarking on this journey, according to GoDaddy’s “Global Entrepreneurship 2025” survey.

Optimistic Outlook and Growth Expectations

Eight out of ten digital entrepreneurs express optimism about their business’s development and anticipate growth over the next three to five years, as per GoDaddy’s survey.

“People will continue to discover small businesses through various channels, and social media is like these businesses—constantly evolving. Therefore, digital entrepreneurs must diversify their online presence,” says Rodrigo Pérez, GoDaddy’s marketing director.

Social Media as a Key Strategy

Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok have become platforms where users search for products or services. Consequently, 83% of digital entrepreneurs consider social media crucial for their sales strategies.

Online advertising is no longer an option but a necessary part of business strategy, especially since 69% of the surveyed startups were born during the pandemic, meaning they have less than five years of operation. Thus, early growth efforts are vital.

The survey highlights that digitalization is a significant ally for entrepreneurs, with 41% selling through social media platforms.

Challenges Faced by Digital Entrepreneurs

The survey targeted small businesses without specialized areas or personnel for social media or digital strategies, forcing them to learn independently.

Most entrepreneurs opt to learn online, with 63% studying social media-based businesses over books, blogs, or artificial intelligence.

Moreover, the majority of entrepreneurs view mastering social media usage as a challenge, with half struggling to reach their target audience and convert followers into customers.
