Understanding Buen Fin 2025 and its Opportunities for SMEs
Buen Fin, a major shopping event in Mexico, will take place from November 13 to 17. During this period, brands offer special deals and promotions. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can participate by employing creative strategies without compromising their profitability.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of Buen Fin, and for the first time, SMEs are encouraged to join. Participants will have a chance to win one of 100,000,000 pesos in prizes through a lottery.
Creative Strategies for SMEs to Shine
Yasmín Quintero, a neuromarketing consultant and mentor, emphasizes that SMEs can showcase their creativity while offering promotions without affecting sales. She explains, “There are many ways to participate in Buen Fin; you attract interested individuals, consider them, and guide them through the sales funnel.”
Quintero also addresses concerns from SMEs about the feasibility of participating in Buen Fin. “I ask if they can offer partial payments or provide additional services, and if the answer is yes, that’s usually enough.”
In the previous edition, 60% of the 190,000 registered businesses reported sales increases of up to 20%, with electronics and technology leading the way, according to the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco servytur).
Key Considerations Before Joining Buen Fin
Before participating in the campaign, SMEs must register on the official Buen Fin website, as using the logo or name without proper authorization can lead to brand misuse issues.
Quintero advises against raising prices before the campaign begins, as consumers compare prices well in advance. Attempting to deceive buyers only results in a negative impression and erodes trust and credibility.
It’s crucial to maintain up-to-date prices across all platforms, including social media and websites. “If you’re selling, ensure your prices and inventory are current; otherwise, potential customers may form a negative impression and leave without returning,” she says.
Attractive Promotion Ideas for SMEs
Popular promotions among businesses include flexible payment options, such as interest-free installments, cashback, and loyalty points. With 87% of Mexican digital shoppers being banked, according to the Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO), partnering with a financial institution can be advantageous during this period.
SMEs with limited production might consider offering complementary services, like free shipping above a certain amount or maintenance packages.
“We need to be very creative and innovative when deciding what to offer, ensuring it adds value for the customer without incurring excessive costs,” Quintero advises.
Cross-selling can also accelerate the sale of slow-moving products. For instance, offering an affordable aromatherapy candle alongside a body cream purchase can help reduce inventory waste.
Optimal Advertising Timing for SMEs
With the variety of promotions and pre-Buen Fin festivities, determining the best time to advertise can be challenging. Experts recommend starting promotional efforts at least a month before the campaign, as consumers begin planning their purchases ahead of time, according to Amazon.
Quintero concurs and suggests advertising after Day of the Dead to avoid last-minute rush while still being timely.
“Many SMEs start by placing banners on Facebook and keeping their customers informed. This is an excellent, cost-effective method to begin advertising,” she adds.
