BBVA Mexico Unveils New App “Futura” Driven by Artificial Intelligence
BBVA Mexico has transitioned from its previous mobile app to “Futura,” a new version powered by artificial intelligence (AI), according to Hugo Nájera, the bank’s general director of retail banking. This shift aims to provide hyper-personalized experiences for the bank’s 27 million digital customers.
The Transition
During the “BBVA Summit 2025: Futura” event, Nájera announced, “Today, we’re turning off the best financial app in Mexico and giving birth to a new app called Futura, which is AI-driven.” He emphasized that hyper-personalization, a key feature of the new app, would not be possible without AI.
Key Features of the “Futura” App
The new app allows users to perform various daily operations, such as international and local transfers, bill payments, cash withdrawals, and more with a single click and without any fees. One of its notable features is “Blue,” the virtual assistant that enables natural language interaction and provides swift, accurate, and personalized responses within the app.
iOS users can further customize their digital cards through the app. The AI-driven approach aims to create a tailored experience for each client and their unique needs based on transaction history, user behavior, and requirements.
BBVA Mexico’s Commitment to AI
Nájera highlighted that BBVA Mexico has prioritized digital banking as its primary business strategy for over a decade, transforming the country’s banking sector. The bank aims to enhance its new app experience through AI, ensuring secure navigation with personalized functionalities throughout a customer’s life cycle, supported by financial health monitoring.
