As customers increasingly opt for digital channels to conduct their banking transactions, the numbers from BBVA and Santander, two of Mexico’s leading banks, reflect this trend. BBVA Mexico, the largest bank in its system, has seen an impressive shift towards digital platforms.

BBVA Mexico’s Digital Transformation

With approximately 34 million customers in total, 80% of BBVA Mexico’s clients are now digital. In the first nine months of 2025, the bank processed 3,424 million transactions. Of these:

The bank’s report highlights that this focus on digital channels has driven sustained growth, with 27 million digital customers by the end of September—an annual increase of 8.2%. Now, 80% of the bank’s total customer base operates through digital means, indicating a growing preference for remote channels.
