Monitor Afore Evaluation by Consar
The Mexican National Commission for the System of Retirement Savings (Consar) has released the Monitor Afore, a new tool to assess the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of services provided by 10 Afores (Occupational Retirement Savings Accounts) in the country.
31 Indicators Assessed
The Monitor Afore evaluates 31 indicators, including 18 operational and 13 service-related metrics. These indicators reflect the resolution times for key processes and the satisfaction of SAR (System of Retirement Savings) account holders.
Additionally, the Monitor Afore assesses multiple channels of attention provided by Afores, with a focus on in-person services, as they are the most frequently used by workers nearing retirement.
“Each indicator in the Monitor Afore sets quality standards for service and operation, enabling Afores to implement a continuous improvement model and ensure high-quality service for users,” explained Consar.
Top Performing Afores
Based on data as of June 2025, Inbursa leads the rankings with an integral evaluation score of 85.7 out of 100 points, followed by Coppel with 84.6 points and PensionISSSTE with 82.5 points.
Banamex follows closely with 81.1 points, while Profuturo and XXI Banorte each have 80 points. SURA has 79.4 points, Principal has 73.8 points, Afore Azteca has 65.4 points, and InverCap trails behind with 65.3 points.
Areas for Improvement
The average integral evaluation score of Afores is 77.8, indicating the need to strengthen various processes for user benefit, such as increasing new account registrations.
Longest Wait Times at Afore Branches
According to the Monitor Afore results as of June 2025, Inbursa and Principal have the longest wait times for scheduled appointments, each scoring 7 out of 10.
SURA and Coppel scored 8, while Azteca, Banamex, InverCap, PensionISSSTE, and XXI Banorte scored 9 out of 10. Profuturo is the only Afore to achieve a perfect score of 10.
For unscheduled appointments, Sura and Principal received the lowest scores of 6 out of 10. Coppel scored 8, while the remaining seven Afores received a perfect score of 10.
