Overview of the Latin American M&A Market in 2025

In the first half of 2025, the Latin American market for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) has recorded a total of 1,338 transactions, both announced and closed, amounting to $43,811 million. This represents a 6% decrease in the number of operations but a 7% increase in their value compared to the same period in the previous year.

Leading Countries in M&A Activity

According to the latest data from a report by TTR Data in collaboration with Datasite and Aon, Brazil led the region in terms of transaction numbers in 2025, with a 1% increase to 827 operations and a 12% rise in capital mobilized, totaling $25,647 million annually.

Following Brazil

Chile followed with 155 operations, a 15% decrease, and $2,982 million in capital mobilized, a 56% decrease compared to the same period in the previous year. Mexico came next, experiencing a decline in both transaction numbers (121 operations) and value (a 23% reduction to $6,823 million).

Argentina and Colombia’s Performance

Argentina saw a 14% increase in transaction numbers, reaching 114, and a 62% rise in value, totaling $3,489 million. Colombia experienced a 31% decrease in transaction numbers (107 operations) but a 14% increase in capital mobilized ($3,502 million).

Peru reported 62 operations, a 27% decrease, and a 41% reduction in value ($1,035 million).

Segment Analysis

Private Equity

The private equity segment recorded 69 transactions, a 36% decrease, with 22 having non-confidential aggregated value of $4,648 million, a 56% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.

Venture Capital

Venture capital closed 258 transactions, a 25% decrease, with 178 having non-confidential aggregated value of $1,948 million, a 27% decrease in capital mobilized.

Asset Acquisition

A total of 240 asset acquisition transactions were recorded, with 101 having non-confidential aggregated value of $7,786 million.
