A Gathering of Chefs, Traditional Cooks, Producers, Artisans, Academics, and Specialists
Morelos will host the X World Forum on Mexican Cuisine, taking place from November 7 to 9 in the Centro Cultural Jardín Borda and the Plaza General Emiliano Zapata Salazar, in Cuernavaca. The official announcement was made by Governor Margarita González Saravia and federal government representatives.
Coinciding with the 15th Anniversary of UNESCO’s Recognition
This is the tenth edition of the forum, which coincides with the 15th anniversary of the recognition of Mexican cuisine as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. The event will bring together chefs, traditional cooks, producers, artisans, academics, and specialists from across the country, along with international delegations from Spain, Italy, the United States, and Asia.
Part of Xochicalco’s Cultural and Tourism Agenda
The forum is part of the cultural and tourism agenda Xochicalco, Tierra de Encuentros, aiming to strengthen Morelos’ national and international projection. It will generate significant economic impact for local service providers, according to González Saravia.
“I would like to emphasize that governments must be concerned with preserving the elements of traditional cuisine, which is why we are proud that the X World Forum on Mexican Cuisine will take place in our state,” she added.
Rich Program of Activities
Daniel Altafi Valladares, Secretary of Tourism in Morelos, announced that the forum will include keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, culinary experiences, and cultural encounters. These activities will highlight the richness of traditional cuisines and their connection to territory, biodiversity, and cultural identity. Moreover, emblematic products from “Mexico’s Spring,” such as rice, sugarcane, mezcal, and Yecapixtla’s cecina, will be showcased.
Michoacán’s Participation
In this edition, Michoacán will participate as a leading region due to its affinity with Morelos in rice cultivation. Lucero del Rocío García Medina, Deputy Secretary of Tourism Development in Michoacán, highlighted the importance of valuing and understanding the depth of Mexican traditional cuisine.

Gloria López Morales, President of the Conservatorio de la Cultura Gastronómica Mexicana and a driving force behind the recognition of Mexican cuisine by UNESCO, expressed gratitude to Morelos for hosting this event. It will celebrate cultural values and the recipes of great traditional cooks.
