Current State of AI Adoption in Mexican Companies

According to the Association of Human Resources of Western Mexico (ARIOAC), 70% of companies in Mexico are already working on automating processes using artificial intelligence (AI). Meanwhile, 51% of workers in the country believe that AI will primarily benefit companies rather than themselves.

Personal Experiences with AI

A LinkedIn user shared their experience of being replaced by AI, stating, “I will close 2025 being replaced by artificial intelligence,” after their employer, who had been contracting them to write advertisements for five years, decided to outsource the task to an AI tool.

Transitioning Towards AI-Driven Automation

By 2026, Mexican businesses are expected to transition into a digital transformation that enables the automation of operational and technical processes using digital systems, tools, and AI. Alejandro Navarro Borja, General Director of ARIOAC, confirms that more than 70% of companies are already undergoing digital transformation, focusing on automation and AI.

Identifying Tasks for Automation

Companies are analyzing which tasks can be automated, such as basic administrative operations, data capture, first-level technical support, operational calculations, call centers, and repetitive tasks. As more companies incorporate AI into various stages of their operations, automating tasks and optimizing processes, this technology is increasingly seen by workers as a tangible tool impacting their daily work lives.

Worker Perceptions of AI

Andrea Avila, CEO of Randstad for Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay, notes that workers are optimistic about both the overall employment landscape and AI integration in their daily tasks, acknowledging that benefits will primarily accrue to organizations.

  • Productivity Improvement: 70% of Mexican workers believe AI has helped improve their productivity, compared to 62% globally.
  • Impact on Tasks: 38% of respondents estimate AI will impact various tasks, while 63% agree.
  • Benefits for Companies: 51% of Mexican workers think AI will primarily benefit companies rather than themselves.

AI Applications in the Workplace

For Mexicans, using AI for work is the primary application of the technology. According to a study by the Mexican Internet Association and the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), 56% find AI useful for improving productivity through automated repetitive tasks and text-writing programs offering suggestions.

AI as a Complementary Tool

The same study indicates that 43% of Mexican respondents view AI as a tool complementing human decision-making, while only 7% believe it replaces human capabilities. The LinkedIn user mentioned that consulting a bot proved more cost-effective than continuing to pay the copywriter.

Maintaining Employability with Soft Skills

Navarro Borja emphasizes that developing “soft skills” like creativity, decision-making, and teamwork will enable workers to maintain their employability in an AI-integrated work environment.
