Tragic Incident at Biscailuz Training Center

On Friday morning, a devastating explosion occurred at the Biscailuz Training Center in East Los Angeles, claiming the lives of three police officers. The incident took place around 7:30 AM local time (14:30 GMT) in the headquarters of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Operations Division.

Victims and Their Backgrounds

The officers, aged 19, 22, and 33 with 19, 22, and 33 years of experience respectively, were part of the arson and explosives unit. Their names have not been disclosed.

No Other Injuries Reported

Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed that no other department members were injured in the incident, describing it as the deadliest for his department in over 150 years.

Initial Response and Investigation

A loud noise was heard early in the morning, prompting the deployment of police and special forces. The building has been cordoned off with official vehicles surrounding it.

The bomb squad inspected and secured the training center, confirming that there is no ongoing threat to the community. The incident has been deemed isolated.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and investigators are working to determine what transpired.

“Accidental Tragedy” – Reactions from Officials

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi was informed of the “terrible incident.” In response, the federal government dispatched FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) personnel to assist in the investigation.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed her sorrow over the incident.

Governor Gavin Newsom’s office stated that they are closely monitoring the situation and have offered full assistance.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger conveyed her condolences and, according to preliminary reports, described the incident as an “accident.”
