The 67th Ariel Awards to Take Place in Jalisco’s Puerto Vallarta

For the third consecutive year, the prestigious Ariel Awards, organized by the Mexican Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences (AMACC), will be held outside Mexico City. This year, the gala will take place in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, a popular tourist destination and the second most important economic zone in the state.

Ariel of Gold Recipients

Alongside the announcement of Puerto Vallarta as the host city, AMACC’s directorate declared that two prominent figures in Mexican cinema and audiovisual industries, along with a significant labor organization, will receive the Ariel of Gold. This special award recognizes exceptional careers or professional contributions to the health of Mexico’s film industry.

  • Patricia Reyes Spíndola: A renowned actress, director, and producer with nearly 50 years of experience, Reyes Spíndola has starred in over 50 films and numerous television productions. She has won four Ariel awards and been nominated three more times.
  • Jacqueline Andere: With over 60 years of experience as an actress, Andere has been a part of two crucial periods in Mexican cinema: the late Golden Era and the beginning of the New Mexican Cinema in the latter half of the 20th century. This will be her first Ariel, recognizing her prolific artistic career and contributions to fundamental films that have won numerous awards.
  • Sindicato de Trabajadores de la Producción Cinematográfica (STPC): Founded in 1945 by influential figures such as Mario Moreno Cantinflas, Jorge Negrete, Gabriel Figueroa, and Alejandro Galindo, the STPC represents all technical, manual, artistic, or intellectual workers involved in film production. The AMACC will present this Ariel of Gold to the STPC, acknowledging its historical significance in shaping Mexico’s cinema landscape.

These recipients’ contributions have significantly impacted Mexican cinema, ensuring its growth and prosperity. The 67th Ariel Awards in Puerto Vallarta will celebrate their achievements and the industry’s rich history.
