Introduction and Overview

The Citizen Council for the Security and Justice of Mexico City has disclosed that the majority of bullying reports in Mexican schools originate from parents and guardians. In observance of the International Day for Preventing Violence Against Women and the promotion of non-violent schools, the council has received 2,040 bullying reports over the past six years. Of these, 1,066 involve girls and adolescents, while 897 pertain to boys and adolescents.

Reporting Trends

From January to October 2025, the council has addressed 448 reports, averaging approximately 43 per month. María Elena Esparza, the council’s Gender Consiglier, emphasized that bullying does not discriminate based on age or social environment. However, aggressions against girls tend to be more subtle and less visible.

“Addressing bullying as a public health issue, from a gender perspective with empathy, is crucial so that no voice remains unheard,” Esparza stated.

Geographical Distribution

75% of the reports come from Mexico City, primarily from Iztapalapa, Gustavo A. Madero, and Azcapotzalco alcaldías. The remaining reports originate from entities such as the State of Mexico, Puebla, and Querétaro.
