The Day of the Dead Cyclist Parade in Mexico City

Mexico City will celebrate the Day of the Dead with one of its most anticipated events: the “Muévete en Bici” (Move on Bicycle) nocturnal parade, organized by the Secretaría de Movilidad (Semovi).

Parade Route

This cycling, pedestrian, and recreational route will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The 19-kilometer route will connect Paseo de la Reforma to the Historic Center, starting at Petróleos Fountain and passing through iconic landmarks such as the National Museum of Anthropology, Diana Cazadora, Glorieta del Ahuehuete, the Column of Independence, and ending at Bellas Artes, Plaza Tlaxcoaque, and the Zócalo.

The route will be bidirectional in certain sections and feature attention points with free services along the way.

Activities and Free Services

During the parade, multiple thematic activities for the whole family will be available, including:

  • Live music by INJUVE and the City of Mexico Philharmonic (FCH)
  • Science and astronomy activities
  • Fitness dance and contests organized by SEMOVI
  • Information spaces from guest embassies, such as the Netherlands
  • Free bicycles available for loan, along with mechanical, medical, and sanitary services

LOCATEL and Mi Bici CDMX will also provide support throughout the event.

Metro CDMX Support

The Sistema de Transporte Colectivo Metro will allow access with bicycles from 5:00 PM on that day across all lines.

Authorities recommend traveling in the first or last car and waiting for trains to be folded against the wall of the platform to avoid obstructing other users.

Disguise Contest

As part of the nocturnal parade, the 13th Day of the Dead Disguise Contest will be held at the Column of Independence.

Participants can register from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with the award ceremony taking place at 10:00 PM in the same location. The contest is limited to 25 participants, and those who won in the previous two editions cannot register.

Disguises must be original, creative, and representative of this Mexican tradition. Special consideration will be given to those incorporating bicycles or recycled materials. The jury, composed of capital authorities and cycling community representatives, will evaluate both the attire’s craftsmanship and each participant’s on-stage performance.

Prizes for winners include:

  • First place: two bicycles (R26 and R20)
  • Second place: one R26 bicycle
  • Third place: one R24 bicycle

In addition, each winner will receive commemorative items from the Netherlands, the invited country for this edition.
