Global Favorites Dominate the Mexican Screen
In 2025, Mexico’s screens were abuzz with international and local content. Series like “Merlina,” “El juego del calamar,” and the ever-popular “Stranger Things” held top spots in Netflix’s weekly Top 10 lists, both nationally and globally. The audience’s preferences mirrored the country’s rich cultural diversity, with stories that traveled from local streaming to international acclaim.
Global Phenomena and Their Impact
“Merlina” made a strong comeback, with its first season staying in the Top 10 for eight weeks and the second season lingering for nine. Similarly, “El juego del calamar” saw its third season reignite interest in the entire saga, with all three seasons returning to the national Top 10 for seven, twelve, and eight weeks, respectively.
The popular South Korean drama “El juego del calamar” returned to Netflix for its final, third season.
“Stranger Things” fever remained strong, with anticipation for the final season driving viewership of seasons 1, 3, and 4 back to the rankings for at least three weeks. Volume 1 of season 5 has dominated the Top 10 since its November release.
K-pop and Surprising New Titles
The Korean wave continued to captivate audiences, with “Las guerreras K-pop” spending 26 weeks in Mexico’s Top 10, the longest stay for any foreign title this year. The miniseries “Adolescencia” held the list for nine weeks, and productions like “Si la vida te da mandarinas,” “Bon Appétit, majestad,” and “La Palma” each spent up to nine weeks in the public’s favor.
