Nintendo Unveils New Games for Nintendo Switch 2, Celebrating Super Mario’s 40th Anniversary

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Remastered and Other Exciting Titles Announced

Nintendo is commemorating the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros by bringing several titles from this franchise to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. Among these are remastered versions of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Tennis Fever, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, as well as other games like Pokémon Pokopia, Tomodachi Life, and Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Remastered

Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will receive a remastered version for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, compatible with the latter console set to launch on October 2nd. Both titles will be available for purchase together or separately via the eShop.

Mario Tennis Fever

In February of the following year, Switch 2 will receive Mario Tennis Fever, a new installment in this sports franchise that introduces sliding on the court and defensive techniques, such as jump shots. Players can choose from 38 characters across various Super Mario games to compete in Tournament, Challenge Towers, and Medley modes. New types of rackets, including Fury, Ice, Mini Mushroom, and Shadow, will unlock special moves.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book (Spring)

In the spring, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will be released for Switch 2. In this adventure, Yoshi investigates a problem affecting Professor Leo, a talking book that can’t see what’s written in its pages.

Tomodachi Life (Spring)

Nintendo is also bringing back Tomodachi Life, a social simulation game initially released for Nintendo 3DS. Titled “A Dream Life,” this version will be available for Switch in the spring, allowing players to customize their Mii in both appearance and personality.

Hades II (September 25)

In digital format, Hades II will debut for Switch and Switch 2 on September 25th.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined (February 5, 2026)

Additionally, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will arrive on Nintendo Switch online on February 5th, 2026.

Classic Games Pack (February 17)

A new package of classic games will be available for Nintendo Switch online on February 17th, featuring a collection of 3D stereoscopic titles for the Virtual Boy. This requires a special viewer to recreate the original Virtual Boy design.

Additional Announcements

Nintendo Today, an app offering updates on Nintendo news, consoles, games, and related content, is now available in Spanish from Spain. The app can be personalized with themes inspired by Nintendo’s main franchises, including a new Kirby-themed option.
