April 30: Children’s Day

According to the SEP’s 2024-2025 School Calendar, April 30 is designated as a reflection day for Children’s Day. However, it does not officially suspend classes or labor activities.

While preschool and primary schools often hold festivals and gatherings for students, secondary, preparatory, and university levels usually observe the day without special events or replace it with celebrations like Teacher’s Day.

In summary, April 30 will have regular classes and work activities.

May 1: International Workers’ Day

May 1, known as International Workers’ Day, is a mandatory rest day across the country, in accordance with both the SEP’s school calendar and the LFT.

Unlike other holidays adjusted to create long weekends, May 1 will not be part of an extended megapuente this year. No classes will be held at any educational level, whether public or private.

According to the LFT, workers on May 1 are entitled to receive their daily wage plus double pay as compensation for working on a mandatory rest day.

May 5: Battle of Puebla Commemoration

May 5, commemorating the Battle of Puebla, is marked as a day off for school activities according to the SEP’s calendar.

Students in basic education will have a three-day break: Saturday, April 3; Sunday, April 4; and Monday, May 5. Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 6.

Besides May 1 and 5, the school calendar includes an additional break on May 15 for Teacher’s Day celebrations.
