Amazon to Implement Major Job Cuts

Amazon plans to cut up to 30,000 corporate jobs starting Tuesday as the company works to reduce expenses and offset excessive hiring during the pandemic demand peak.

This figure represents a small percentage of Amazon’s total 1.55 million employees but nearly 10% of its approximately 350,000 corporate staff. It would be Amazon’s largest job cut since around 27,000 positions were eliminated at the end of 2022.

Heineken Mexico’s Decarbonization Efforts

Heineken Mexico has positioned decarbonization as a central aspect of its environmental strategy, setting clear objectives such as achieving net-zero emissions in Scope 1 and 2 by 2030 and across the entire value chain by 2040.

The company has mapped every stage of its beer production process, from agriculture and production to packaging, transportation, and refrigeration, to identify areas where emissions can be reduced (known as “From farm to bar”).

In agriculture, for instance, Heineken Mexico has been promoting the adoption of good environmental, social, economic, and management practices among farmers since 2021. Currently, 90 of its producers hold the Farm Sustainability Assessment certification by the SAI (Sustainable Agriculture Initiative), resulting in the implementation of high-tech fertilizers that reduce carbon footprint across more than 30,000 hectares.

Recognizing that decarbonization is a collaborative effort, Heineken Mexico decided to focus its 2024 edition of the Heineken Green Challenge on this axis.
