Fibra Inn Reports Lower Revenues and Occupancy

Fibra Inn, a hotel trust catering to business travelers, reported a decline in revenues and occupancy during November, operating 32 hotels that month.

The company stated that its lodging revenue reached 203.1 million pesos (approximately $11.3 million), a 7% decrease from November 2024 figures. The average occupancy rate was 1,936.8 pesos last month, a 1.4% increase compared to the previous year.

Fibra Inn’s occupancy rate for the penultimate month of the year was 63%, a decrease of 4.4 percentage points from the previous year, while RevPar (revenue per available room) dropped 5.2% to 1,220.5 pesos.

The reasons for this decline in key indicators were not detailed, but it is likely that Fibra Inn was affected by seasonal factors during the discount period known as the Buen Fin.

Peña Verde Increases Share Buyback Fund

Peña Verde, an insurance company, announced that its shareholders approved a 23-fold increase in the amount allocated for buying back its own shares during the fiscal year 2026.

Peña Verde stated that its share buyback fund for the upcoming year will rise to 460,000 million pesos (approximately $25.498 billion), as approved by the assembly held on December 11, 2025. The company added that its management board will determine specific details of the share acquisitions at appropriate times.

Viva Aerobus Sees Slower Traffic Growth

Viva Aerobus, Mexico’s second-largest low-cost airline, reported a 4.8% increase in passenger traffic for November, extending its growth streak initiated in February 2021.

However, this growth rate was the lowest for a November month since 2020, when airlines were grappling with global government measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

Viva Aerobus mentioned that the traffic growth in the penultimate month of the year reflects the resilience of the domestic market, despite challenging operational conditions due to engine availability issues.

Domestic traffic was 5.9% higher compared to the same penultimate month of the previous year, while international traveler numbers using their services decreased by 3.4% compared to the previous year.

NVIDIA May Boost AI Chip Production

NVIDIA informed its Chinese clients that it is evaluating increasing production capacity for its powerful AI chips, H200, following orders surpassing current production levels, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

This comes after US President Donald Trump announced last week that the US government would allow NVIDIA to export H200 processors, its second-fastest AI chips, to China and charge a 25% tariff on such sales.

The strong demand for the chip from Chinese companies has NVIDIA considering adding new capacity, according to one source. The sources declined to provide names as the discussions are confidential.
