Overview of the Afores Fair 2025
The Afores Fair 2025 is an essential annual event promoting financial education and retirement planning in Mexico. Taking place from August 1 to 5, the fair will be held at the Zócalo in Mexico City, offering a range of activities and services for attendees.
Who is relevant?
The Afores Fair 2025 is organized by the National Commission for the System of Retirement Savings (Consar), a government body responsible for overseeing and regulating the Mexican pension system. The fair brings together more than 35 financial institutions, Afores (private pension funds), and government agencies to provide valuable information and services to the public.
Why is this event important?
Since its inception in 2014, the Afores Fair has attracted over 300,000 visitors. In 2024, more than 106,000 people attended to complete necessary retirement-related paperwork or learn about the Sistema de Ahorro para el Retiro (SAR). The 2025 edition aims to surpass previous attendance figures and offer an even more efficient and comprehensive experience for attendees.
Modules of Attention from Over 20 Institutions
This year, the fair will feature 45 service modules from 35 financial institutions, Afores, and government agencies gathered at the Zócalo. Key participants include ten Afores that make up the SAR, along with institutions such as Infonavit, Condusef, IMSS, ISSSTE, the Civil Registry, and Cetesdirecto.
“This year, we will have more space and efficiency in service delivery. The goal is for the fair to be a comprehensive solution for anyone needing assistance with retirement-related matters,” said Mari Nieves Lanzagorta, vice president of Amafore’s (Association of Mexican Retirement Fund Managers) linkage.
The Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) will also provide support to taxpayers for RFC registration and obtaining the e.firma on August 1, 4, and 5. On August 2 and 3, assistance will be available for downloading and printing the tax situation certificate.
Talks and Special Activities
This year, 27 talks will be held under the theme “Your retirement savings without so many twists and turns,” offering expert insights on financial education, personal finances, and retirement savings.
“This year, we will have an activity organized by the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV), where the largest stock exchange floor in Mexico will be simulated, allowing the public to experience a typical day of stock market operations,” previewed Tania Fosado, Consar’s Director of Previsional Education.
