Key Institution: Centenario Hospital Miguel Hidalgo
Rubén Galaviz Tristán, the State Secretary of Health, highlighted that the Centenario Hospital Miguel Hidalgo has become a crucial institution in oncological care, thanks to its specialized personnel, modern infrastructure, and high-quality treatments.
Efficient and Timely Care
Galaviz Tristán explained that the hospital provides efficient and timely care to cancer patients. Between 2022 and 2025, the hospital administered 24,284 chemotherapies, with 17,207 for adults and 7,077 for pediatric patients. This demonstrates the capacity and continuity of specialized services.
Advanced Radiation Therapy
The implementation of the most comprehensive and modern linear accelerator in the country, equipped with cutting-edge technology for radiation therapy, has significantly improved patient care. From July 2023 to November 2025, the facility treated 855 adult and pediatric patients with more precise, safe, and effective treatments.
During this period, 25,183 radiation therapy sessions were provided, directly enhancing patients’ quality of life and recovery prospects.
Galaviz Tristán emphasized that the new technology increased patient treatment by 150%, as the radiation therapy session time was reduced to between seven and ten minutes. Moreover, using the linear accelerator increased recovery chances, decreased radiation dosage, and improved patients’ quality of life with fewer side effects during treatment.
High-Tech Mammography Equipment
The State Health Secretariat operates three high-tech mammography units that meet international quality standards. These are located in the Rincón de Romos Hospital, Women’s Hospital, and Hidalgo Hospital. Additionally, a mobile mammography unit periodically visits interior municipalities.
