Job Fairs and Online Portal to Facilitate Employment Opportunities

In an effort to bolster employment opportunities, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the President of Mexico City, announced that 100,000 additional jobs will be offered as part of the Plan México. These positions will be promoted through National Job Fairs and an online employment portal, www.empleo.gob.mx, managed by the Secretariat of Labor and Social Prevision (STPS).

Job Fair Details

  • The 100,000 job openings will be primarily offered at National Job Fairs, with an additional edition scheduled for June 9 across the nation.
  • The STPS will collaborate with the Coordinating Employers’ Council (CCE) and various business mechanisms to inform about available positions.

STPS Secretary’s Statement

Marath Baruch Bolaños López, the Secretary of Labor and Social Prevision, elaborated on the initiative. He mentioned that the job openings will be promoted through National, State, and Regional Job Fairs throughout the year, with 400 events planned. The STPS has strengthened its strategy in collaboration with the CCE and other business entities to inform about vacancies.

Impact of Labor Policies

Sheinbaum highlighted that the labor policies implemented by the Fourth Transformation governments have significantly improved the lives of Mexican workers. These policies have led to increased incomes, reduced poverty, and recognized workers’ rights. Since 2018, formal employment has seen a positive trend, with 22.4 million formal jobs created as of November 2024.

Servicio Nacional de Empleo (SNE) Contributions

Through the SNE, which offers free advice and guidance to job seekers, 2.4 million people have been placed in jobs from December 2018 to the present. Of these, 162,000 found employment during Sheinbaum’s first six months in office.

Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro Program

Sheinbaum praised the Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro program, now a constitutional right under Article 123. Since early 2019, over 3.16 million young Mexicans aged 18-29 have been trained in 620,352 workplaces with an investment of more than 137 billion pesos. This has resulted in seven out of ten young people finding employment or productive occupations.

Program Updates

As of 2025, program beneficiaries receive a monthly economic support of 8,480 pesos through an investment of 24.2 billion pesos targeting 450,000 young individuals. The next payment is scheduled for April 28, while 80,000 new participants joining Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro in April will begin their training on May 6. The next registration period is set for June 2.
