Claudia Sheinbaum Highlights Support for Acapulco, Guerrero in Drainage and Security

Hospital Inauguration in Acapulco

On Friday, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum led the inauguration of the first phase of the Regional High Specialty Hospital for ISSSTE in Acapulco, Guerrero. She addressed the region’s residents, detailing the progress in hiring medical and nursing staff for this new hospital.

Sheinbaum reminded the audience that since taking office, she has inaugurated 31 hospitals and 12 health centers that began construction during the previous administration.

Highlighting Support for Acapulco

This year, Sheinbaum’s government is investing 7,000 million pesos in Acapulco for water supply projects, drainage systems, treatment plants, and waste separation.

During her working visit to the port, Sheinbaum also kicked off the “Senderos de Paz” program.

Addressing the residents, she explained that due to the challenges faced by Acapulco after hurricanes Otis in 2023 and John in 2024, her administration developed an integral rescue program for the port called “Acapulco se transforma contigo.” This program focuses on rehabilitating the water supply system and other actions primarily benefiting Acapulco’s residents.

Sheinbaum also mentioned that based on this program, her administration is “sending more security” to the region.

“With these ‘Senderos de Paz’ in Acapulco se Transforma Contigo, streets and avenues in the eastern and western coastal zones are being rehabilitated so that tourists and residents can enjoy clean and secure public spaces,” Sheinbaum said, accompanied by Sebastián Ramírez Mendoza, the General Director of Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo (Fonatur), and Guerrero’s Governor, Evelyn Sandoval Pineda.

During her trip to Guerrero, Sheinbaum also visited the Hospital General in Tlalpa de Comonfort, located in La Montaña Guerrero.
