Crime Indicators’ Trends from 2018 to 2024
When comparing crime rates from 2018 to 2024, there has been a decrease in crimes such as intentional homicide, feminicide, kidnapping, and residential, vehicle, and pedestrian robberies. However, extortion has seen an increase.
- Homicide dolosos: 32% reduction from August 2024 to August 2025
- High-impact crimes: 45.6% reduction from 2018 to 2024
- Violent vehicle theft: 30% reduction from September 2024 to August 2025
- Robbery against transport workers: 29% reduction from September 2024 to August 2025
- Extortion: 21.3% increase from January-August 2019 to January-August 2025

Seven states account for 51.1% of intentional homicides from January to August 2025: Guanajuato, Chihuahua, Baja California, Sinaloa, Guerrero, and Michoacán.
Historical Crime Incidence Evolution
From 2015 to 2025, the intentional homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants has decreased since 2019. The rate increased from 2015 to 2019, rising from 13.17 to 23.19, but dropped to 22.49 in 2020 and further decreased to 19.25 in 2024, reaching 10.58 from January to August 2025.
