Background on the Artists

Bayron Sánchez, known as B King, and Jorge Herrera, also known as Regio Clown, were two prominent Colombian musicians who recently gained attention in Mexico. Sánchez, 31, and Herrera, 35, were found dead in Mexico after disappearing on September 16th. They had traveled to Mexico City for a concert.

Disappearance and Discovery

According to their manager, Juan Camilo Gallego, the musicians were last seen in Polanco, an exclusive neighborhood in Mexico City, after leaving a gym. They were reportedly supposed to have lunch with two individuals but never returned, and their messages ceased.

The following day, Mexican authorities discovered two bodies in Cocotitlán, a municipality in the State of Mexico, approximately 42 km northwest of Mexico City. It wasn’t until Monday when the families of Sánchez identified their remains, as per a statement from the capital’s fiscalía.

The federal security cabinet later confirmed on social media that both artists were “tragically found deceased,” and an investigation was initiated to find the perpetrators and clarify the incident.

Reactions from Colombian President

Colombia’s president, Gustavo Petro, condemned the crime on Twitter, stating that “youth” was being killed in the “United States of Mexico” due to an anti-drug policy that isn’t anti-narcotrafficking. He didn’t explicitly mention the victims by name.

Earlier, Petro had publicly requested the assistance of Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum to locate the missing artists.

The Artists’ Recent Activities

In a video posted on Instagram, B King was seen in what appeared to be a dressing room, receiving compliments and expressing gratitude. He mentioned feeling content and happy after his performance at a bar in Mexico City’s south.

“MUCHAS GRACIAS MI MÉXICO LINDO Y QUERIDO” (Much thanks, my beloved and beautiful Mexico), he wrote in a message following his act.

Criminal Activities in Mexico

Sadly, kidnappings, extortions, and human trafficking are common practices by criminal groups operating in various regions of Mexico. In the last decade, at least three producers seeking locations for Netflix series have been murdered in the country.

The artistic world has also suffered losses, with numerous singers and even entire bands falling victim to “narcocorridos,” songs referencing the lives of drug trafficking kingpins.

Potential Threats

B King, known in Colombia mainly through social media, was a flamboyant figure in his music videos, surrounded by voluptuous women and dancers. He recently introduced his new girlfriend, adult content model Angie Miller.

“I can’t bear this pain in my chest. We were happy and had many projects ahead, wherever you are, I’ll take you with me,” Miller wrote on her social media after learning of the news.

Previously, B King had a relationship with renowned Colombian DJ Marcela Reyes. Their breakup was widely covered by entertainment media.

“It breaks my heart. Bayron is part of my story, and Jorge is a human being who also has a family waiting for him,” Reyes stated in a press release.

The statement clarifies that Marcela Reyes has “absolutely nothing to do with the disappearance of Bayron and Jorge. Any suggestion otherwise is false and malicious.” It also requests corrections from entertainment programs for misleading comments that divert attention from the core issue and harm Reyes’s reputation.

In a video from four months ago, B King claimed to have received “threats” from his ex-partner.
