Background on Rubén Rocha Moya and His Role

Rubén Rocha Moya is the current Governor of Sinaloa, a state in northwestern Mexico. As the chief executive of Sinaloa, he plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and fostering economic development. His recent efforts to bolster state security have garnered attention, particularly in light of federal support aimed at enhancing state corporations.

Federal Support for State Security

During a recent visit by the Federal Security Cabinet to Sinaloa, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening state security through technology, resources, new personnel, and equipment. Governor Rocha Moya detailed these plans during his weekly press conference.

Key Points of Federal Support

  • Equipment provision for state corporations, including patrol vehicles, cameras, and C4/C5 systems
  • Allocation of resources from the Fondo de Aportaciones para la Seguridad Pública (FASP) and the Fondo para el Fortalecimiento de las Instituciones de Seguridad Pública (FOFISP)
  • Installation of 613 new cameras across Culiacán, Mazatlán, and Los Mochis to enhance surveillance coverage

Implementation and Impact

Governor Rocha Moya will meet with Omar García Harfuch, Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, to finalize the details of this federal support. Harfuch mentioned that he would discuss the support with Rocha Moya, aiming to deliver around 100 patrol vehicles to increase the number of patrols.

Ricardo Jenny del Rincón, Secretariado Ejecutivo del Sistema Estatal de Seguridad Pública (SESESP), announced the installation of 613 new cameras across Culiacán, Mazatlán, and Los Mochis. These cameras will cover 100 new surveillance points, enhancing the state’s security infrastructure.

In addition to equipment, 70 patrol vehicles and 7 motorcycles will be distributed among state police and the 20 municipal police forces in Sinaloa. The Fiscalía General del Estado (General Prosecutor’s Office) will also receive newly acquired vehicles, though the process is still ongoing.
