Education as a Key Pillar of Claudia Sheinbaum’s Government

- La Escuela es Nuestra (LEEN): This initiative will support 276 basic education planteles and 46 higher secondary education institutions with nearly 120 million pesos for 2025.
- Bachillerato Expansion: More than 58 million pesos will be allocated to convert a secondary school without evening classes and expand the Centro de Estudios Tecnológicos del Mar (CETMAR) No. 31 in Los Cabos.
Healthy School Environment Initiative
Delgado Carrillo called on the municipal presidents present at the press conference to join the Vive saludable, vive feliz (Live Healthy, Live Happy) strategy. This initiative aims to implement guidelines that prohibit the sale and distribution of junk food within schools, ensuring a healthier generation.
Combatting Drug Addiction
The Secretary of Education also mentioned the national prevention strategy against drug addiction, “Aléjate de las drogas; el fentanilo te mata” (Avoid Drugs; Fentanyl Kills), as part of Mexico’s public policy to address drug consumption among students. This initiative has been recognized by the US government for its comprehensive approach and potential impact on containing this public health issue.
