Overview of Mario Delgado’s Recent Visits and Initiatives

Mario Delgado Carrillo, the Mexican Secretary of Public Education (SEP), has been conducting a two-day tour from south to north, visiting various states to oversee educational infrastructure projects and progress. During this tour, Delgado Carrillo visited Nuevo León to verify the construction of two new Centros de Bachillerato Tecnológico Industrial y de Servicios (CBTIS) and later traveled to Tabasco to supervise infrastructure projects in both primary and secondary education.

Nuevo León: Advancing Technological Education

  • Delgado Carrillo inspected the construction of CBTIS No. 298 and No. 299 in Nuevo León, which join other newly constructed CBTIS institutions such as:
    • CBTIS No. 295 in the State of Mexico
    • CBTIS No. 302 in Tamaulipas
    • CBTIS No. 293 in Hidalgo
    • CBTIS No. 305 in Yucatán
    • CBTIS No. 301 in Quintana Roo
    • CBTIS No. 304 in Querétaro
    • CBTIS No. 291 in Chihuahua

These new CBTIS institutions aim to prepare students in cutting-edge technical fields, including Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Semiconductors and Microelectronics, Robotics, and Automation. This initiative aligns with the goals of Plan México and the Development Poles for Well-being.

Delgado Carrillo emphasized that these new constructions, expansions, and conversions of secondary schools will enable nearly 40,000 young people who previously lacked access to bachillerato (upper secondary education) to pursue it. This initiative responds to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s directive for the educational system to modernize rapidly, adapt continuously, and anticipate future needs for better preparation of young people.

Tabasco: Infrastructure Improvements for Quality Education

In Tabasco, Delgado Carrillo, accompanied by Governor Javier May Rodríguez, verified the expansion of basic and upper secondary education infrastructure to ensure educational rights for children, adolescents, and young adults.

  • He supervised the construction of:
    • Escuela Primaria “Tomás Garrido Canabal” in the Ejido Dos Montes, Centro municipality
    • The first phase of Colegio de Bachilleres de Tabasco (COBATAB) Plantel No. 52 in Nacajuca
    • Remodeling of COBATAB Plantel No. 3 in Comalcalco
    • Escuela Secundaria Estatal “27 de Febrero” in the same region

In Villahermosa, Delgado Carrillo also delivered official documents to provide legal certainty for 77 educational institutions.
