Participation in Consejo Técnico Escolar (CTE) Session

During the Second Ordinary Session of the Consejo Técnico Escolar (CTE), Mario Delgado Carrillo, the Secretary of Public Education (SEP), acknowledged the dedication and support of teachers in regions affected by heavy rains. Over one million and a quarter teachers from 226,640 public and private schools across the country participated in this event.

SEP’s Commitment to School Reconstruction

Delgado Carrillo assured that the SEP will ensure the complete reconstruction or repair of all damaged school facilities in San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Puebla, Hidalgo, and Veracruz. He emphasized that the collective effort of educators, parents, and local authorities allowed most students to return to classes, highlighting education’s role in providing hope, strength, and emotional resilience amidst adversity.

Immediate Response to Disaster

Following instructions from President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the SEP launched an immediate response operation in communities affected by the October 10 rains across six states, where severe damage was reported in schools, homes, hospitals, and public spaces.

Infrastructure and Resources

Delgado Carrillo confirmed that all public educational infrastructure is secure, and the SEP guarantees full reconstruction or repair of affected schools along with replacement of furniture, technology equipment, and teaching materials. Additionally, new free textbooks and school supplies will be distributed to all affected basic education students.

Strengthening Teacher Autonomy

During the CTE session, Delgado Carrillo emphasized the importance of enhancing teacher professional autonomy, a cornerstone of the New Mexican School (NEM). He reminded educators that each collective determines the pedagogical topics for their sessions and designs their own itinerary based on students’ and communities’ needs.

Recognizing Teaching Practices

The SEP acknowledged 43,351 schools that participated in the Integrative Learning Exercises, a crucial tool for understanding teaching and learning processes nationwide. Delgado Carrillo invited educators to share their results and reflections to develop collective strategies that strengthen pedagogical work in each school.

Promoting Healthy Lifestyles

Delgado Carrillo reiterated the call to primary school teachers to encourage parents to follow the Vive Saludable strategy, taking their children to clinics for free nutrition, dental, and optometry services as part of the Mexican government’s commitment to students’ overall well-being.

National Peace and Addiction Prevention Jornada

Finally, Delgado Carrillo announced the National Peace and Addiction Prevention Jornada on November 7 and 8, involving secondary schools in activities focused on prevention, self-care, and peaceful coexistence.

Education as a Path to a Better Future

“Education is the path that confirms we collectively build a better tomorrow,” concluded Mario Delgado Carrillo.
