Beyond conservation, the program includes modernization projects totaling 340 kilometers across various corridors such as Tapachula, Acapulco, Veracruz, the Altiplano, the Yucatan Peninsula, and the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. These projects encompass crucial segments like Salina Cruz-Zihuatanejo and Lázaro Cárdenas-Colima.

Repavement and Technological Advancements

Regarding repavement, the SICT has already procured 20 paving trains, with 10 commencing operations in 2025 and the remaining starting between January and February 2026. An additional 11 paving trains will be incorporated, ensuring each federal entity has at least one. The advanced technology of these machines will enable daily progress of up to one kilometer in repavement tasks.

The SICT official elaborated on the diverse intervention types, ranging from deep structural recovery of pavement, fresado, and new carpet layer installation to preventive treatments like microcarpets and synchronized irrigation, aiming to extend the lifespan of highways.

“Megabachetón 2026” Program

Alongside the National Highway Conservation Program, the government will implement the “Megabachetón 2026” initiative, targeting 43,000 kilometers of the federal network. This program features a control and tracking application that allows reporting, assigning attention to potholes, and verifying repairs within a 72-hour maximum timeframe.

The system will be backed by 62 specialized equipment groups stationed across SICT centers nationwide.
