Scholarships for Students in Chihuahua
Mario Delgado Carrillo, the Secretary of Public Education (SEP), announced that over 3,574 million pesos have been allocated by the Mexican government for scholarships and school infrastructure in Chihuahua through two key programs: “Becas para el Bienestar” and “La Escuela es Nuestra.”
- 182,269 secondary students in Chihuahua are receiving the “Rita Cetina” scholarship, totaling 1,537 million 805 thousand pesos.
- 112,394 young adults in upper-secondary education are beneficiaries of the “Benito Juárez” scholarship, with an investment of 167 million 743 thousand pesos.
- The “Jóvenes Escribiendo el Futuro” scholarship supports 6,193 university students for 179 million 597 thousand pesos.
These scholarships aim to ensure that students in Chihuahua stay enrolled and reduce school dropout rates, as directed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
New School Construction and Reconversion
The federal and state governments agreed on constructing a new preparatory school and converting two existing secondary schools (3061 in Ciudad Juárez and 3020 in Chihuahua City) into preparatory schools offering evening classes. This initiative will invest 136 million 500 thousand pesos in these three facilities.
The new schools will offer programs such as Robotics, Automation, Electromobility, International Trade, and Customs. The goal is to provide students with opportunities to continue their education after completing secondary school, as instructed by President Sheinbaum.
“La Escuela es Nuestra” Program
Through “La Escuela es Nuestra,” the infrastructure of 2,223 basic education schools and 182 bachillerato plants will be improved, marking the first time bachillerato institutions are included. The total investment for this project is 652 million 600 thousand pesos.
