On Tuesday, the federal government unveiled the “3 x Mi Salud” program to combat what it described as a “silent epidemic” of overweight and obesity affecting more than 75% of adults in Mexico, along with a concerning number of children and adolescents.

Subsecretary Ramiro López Elizalde’s Warning

  • Focusing on maintaining balanced metabolic health
  • Regulating five key factors: waist measurement, blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood glucose levels

Two promotional materials were also introduced: one highlighting the harm of sugary drinks and another featuring comic book characters to promote healthy lifestyles among girls and boys.

  1. Waist measurement
  2. Blood pressure
  3. Cholesterol
