Overview of the Approval Ratings for Mexico’s Governors

The national average approval rating for Mexico’s governors and the head of the capital city’s government has increased, rising from 48.5% in July to 50% in August. This is the first time this year that the approval rating has reached this figure.

Top and Bottom Performers

According to the “Mitofsky Ranking: Mexico’s Governors and Governess on Citizen Approval” monthly measurement conducted for El Economista, Clara Brugada, the head of Mexico City’s government, topped the list with a 55.8% approval rating. Meanwhile, Javier May, the governor of Tabasco, had the lowest approval rating at 41%.

Detailed Analysis

The analysis also revealed that only 12 state governors received a “high” approval rating, ranging from 50 to 60 points. In contrast, 20 local executives had a “medium” approval rating, between 49 and 40 points.

Political Divide

Among the 24 states aligned with the ruling party, the average approval rating was 49.5%. In contrast, the eight states governed by opposition parties had an approval rating of 51.5%.

Methodology

The survey was conducted among 81,294 Mexican adults aged 18 and above who have access to the internet via smartphones.
