Morelia, Michoacán, September 4, 2025 – Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, the Governor of Michoacán, launched a new linear accelerator and PET Scan, state-of-the-art equipment for cancer detection and treatment. This investment will eliminate the waiting list for cancer patients in Michoacán.

Governor Ramírez Bedolla highlighted the decision to invest 165 million pesos in acquiring these cutting-edge devices, which are unique in Michoacán and only available in four states across the country. These advanced tools will provide crucial care to cancer patients.
Expanded Capacity and Accessibility
The Governor explained that the new equipment will significantly increase daily patient capacity from 80 to 200, marking a 150% increase. Moreover, cancer treatment will be free for patients without social security through the IMSS Bienestar program.

Ramírez Bedolla emphasized that the new equipment, operated by certified technicians and radiologists, will ensure high-quality care for women, men, girls, and boys battling cancer. Currently, the survival rate for cancer patients in Michoacán stands at 85%.
The Governor stressed that these new devices offer high precision, enabling the treatment of minute cancerous tumors without harming healthy organs and tissues. This approach is less aggressive yet more effective, he noted.
Additionally, the equipment’s versatility allows for radiation of complex organs in motion, such as the liver or lungs. The efficiency of these machines lies in their ability to treat multiple body areas during a single session.
