Introduction to Nayarit’s Olympic Villa Project

In Tepic, Nayarit, on May 28, 2025, Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero announced the construction of an Olympic Sports Villa in the state, one of only a few nationwide. The complex is being built at the Nayarit Sports Complex with an investment exceeding 100 million pesos, aiming to strengthen high-performance sports and provide comprehensive support for local athletes.

Governor’s Commitment to the Project

During a tour of the site, Governor Navarro Quintero emphasized his determination to complete this strategic project, crucial for Nayarit’s sports development:

“We are no longer in the Nayarit where parents had to collect donations for transportation. We are no longer in the Nayarit where there is uncertainty about where athletes will stay or eat. Work cannot be interrupted, and we must continue to finish these villas here. I do not want my administration to end with incomplete projects. I feel very proud and deeply committed to you. My responsibility grows every day to fulfill my duty until the very end, leaving you with the heritage you deserve.”

Comprehensive Facilities of the Olympic Sports Villa

The complex will feature top-tier infrastructure, enabling athletes to train without leaving the state. The facilities include a fully equipped gymnasium, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a six-lane athletics track of 200 meters, accommodations for 150 people, an auditorium-cafeteria with a capacity of 100 attendees, seating for 450 people, jogging tracks, access zones, parking with 104 spaces, and outdoor gardens.

Significance of the Project for Nayarit’s Sports Community

Carolina Lugo Robles, the General Director of Nayarit’s Institute for Physical Culture and Sports (INCUFID), highlighted the project’s importance for Nayarit’s sports community:

“Soon, Nayarit will boast its first Olympic Sports Villa, just like many other states. This dream, which we all once had to seek opportunities elsewhere, will become a reality in this administration. Many of you will now have the chance to reach top-tier, both athletic and personal, levels. Governor, on behalf of the entire sports community, thank you. Please continue to support and back our athletes, coaches, and the entire sports community to elevate Nayarit to new heights.”
