Operation in Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco Targets Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) Territory
In a coordinated effort between state and federal forces, an alleged “narcocampamento” was secured and destroyed in the municipality of Huejuquilla El Alto, located in northern Jalisco, a region known as Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) territory.
Joint Interinstitutional Regional Force (FIR) Conducts Patrols
The Secretariat of Security in the state reported that the discovery was made during surveillance patrols along roads, byways, and rural areas in the zone, conducted by the FIR. This force is composed of state police officers, National Guard members, Mexican Army soldiers, and local municipal corporations.
Evidence of Kidnapping and Recent Activity Found
According to the state security chief, Juan Pablo Hernández, indications were found suggesting the presence of at least ten individuals who had been detained against their will.
“Organized crime groups are using high points where they see law enforcement units advancing, giving them the opportunity to move a bit deeper into the hillside. Our goal is to dismantle these types of camps and minimize their ability to recruit young people in these areas,” Hernández stated.
The site was described as an improvised camp, showing signs of recent use, though no individuals were present at the time of discovery.
“It was essentially an improvised camp. The youths were sleeping outdoors, according to investigations based on the indicators we found, such as purchase receipts, types of food, and cans. This has led us to gather information,” explained the official.
Authorities Destroy Campsite
As reported, the authorities demolished everything left at the location, including barricades made of rocks and clothing that resembled military uniforms.
“Nobody was there, and everything was destroyed and burned; some clothes that resembled military attire, all the rock barricades were knocked down. With this, we essentially dismantled that location, which was close to Zacatecas,” the official elaborated.
